United Kingdom or France - are taking certain decisions to prevent the use of vehicles powered by motor vehicles which they pollute. Now Australia is joining the initiative to decontaminate its roads.
The € 2.5 million project will be one of the longest motorways for electric vehicles: 2,000 kilometers from Cairns to Coolangatta and then west of Toowoomba. It will be equipped with 18 fast charging stations, with the ability to charge a car in just 30 minutes. The announcement was made by Steven Milens, Minister of the Environment.
"This project is ambitious, but we want the largest number of people to join the electric vehicle revolution as part of our transition to a zero emission future," he said. "Today we announce the first 18 cities and towns that constitute the first sentence of what will be a super-highway and, once operational, will allow us to drive an electric vehicle from the southern border of the state to the north" .
Once built - the deadline has not yet been announced - the charging stations will be totally free, to encourage people to use electric vehicles. All the energy provided will also be provided by renewable energy, which is probably logical, given the amount of solar energy that Australia can enjoy.
The oceanic country already has several electric stations, but very little fast loading. Therefore, the development of this highway will be at least useful.
"This project serves as a signal to the market, to unlock investment in electric cars, to grow our economy and create new highly skilled jobs," said Behyad Jafari, CEO of Electric Vehicle Councli.
