Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called the press unusually Wednesday morning at the state department to "clarify" some information that has circulated over the past few hours about his intention to resign for alleged differences he would have with President Donald Trump and other members of the White House.

"I have never considered leaving this charge. There is a lot to do and we are starting to start," Tillerson said to correct what he called "inaccurate reports" referring to a new networking job of NBC guaranteeing that there were political and personal differences with Trump who made his cabinet exit inevitable.

"My commitment to the success of our President and our country is as strong as it was when I accepted his offer as Secretary of State."

A few hours earlier, NBC reported that Vice President Mike Pence had advised him to continue leading US diplomacy after some clashes with the president, whom he would have called a "fool" at a meeting with members of the national security team. The White House of the Pentagon last July, according to sources consulted by television.

When asked directly whether he had qualified the president this way, Tillerson replied that he would not focus on the "little things", leading many commentators to note that the secretary did not deny the version.

"The story of @NBCNews has just been completely refuted by Secretary Tillerson and @VP Pence. It is # FakeNews. You should apologize to the United States!" Writes the president who was aboard the Air Force One in the direction of Las Vegas, where he pays tribute to the victims of the firing of Sunday which left 59 people dead and more than 500 wounded.

Wasted time

Tillerson's presentation, suddenly called after the NBC report, is unusual because it is one of the main positions of the government that reacts to a news based on anonymous sources.

Despite what was said in his presentation, Tillerson and Trump expressed different views on some issues, such as the weekend when the president said he was "wasting time" in a dialogue with North Korea secretary had said days before he could help to reduce tensions between the two countries.

They also seem to differ in the management of the nuclear deal with Iran that President Barack Obama has promised and Trump considers a "bad deal", but the rest of the cabinet, including Tillerson, considers it to be the best thing currently to deal with Tehran.
